ΚOKKARI SAMOS ISLAND
The coastal settlement Kokkari is located 10 km north-west of the island's capital. It is built in a privileged location, because it combines idyllic green surroundings in accordance with the golden sandy beaches.
The region has shown a significant tourism growth. During the last years it has been developed into a cosmopolitan resort. Therefore the tourism volumes are increased every year. In Kokkari village the visitors can find several accommodation units such as hotels, apartments etc. As far as their entertainment there are many restaurants, cafe, bars and clubs at the centre of the village.
Kokkari has been famous by its main attraction, the unique beaches. Apart from the village's traditional beach, the visitors can enjoy swimming also in the gulf of Tsamadou Bay . In addition it is worth your visit the Lemonakia Beach with its crystal waters. For the history we report that Kokkari took its name from the onion production process (kokkari = small tuber of onion).
