HISTORY

Foreign and Greek visitors can also go sight-seeing in and around the
town to learn about Greek history first hand. 3 kilometers outside the
town is the famous Byzantine monastery.
" Metamorphosis of Sotiros " (The Transfiguarion of the Savoir). Built in 12th century its main attraction are the wall paintings. 15km. West is the archaelogical site at Thermopiles where the ancient king of Sparta, Leonidas, showed the Persians the meaning of the word "duty" 60 kms south is the famous site of Delphi which, according to the Ancient Greeks, was " The Center of the World ". The remains of the ancient theatre, gymnasium and the Temple of Apollon with the Kastallia Spring can all be found there.
