Ermoupolis, the capital and the pride of the island is a very big enchantress.
The main characteristics of the island are its beautiful buildings with the carefully thought out decorations both inside and out. Some of the better-known buildings are, the Town Hall, the Spiritualistic center, the Theatre of Apollo, the Archeological Museum, and the medical center of the island. There you will have the opportunity to receive information about the history of the island of Siros, and also see the unique findings, monuments and relics of years gone by.

You can also visit the neighborhood Vaporia and you will be charmed by the architecture of the homes that have as their company the saltines of the sea, or you can pay your respects, in the distinctively beautiful Churches and Temples, like that of Saint Nicolas, the Metamorphosis, and the Koimisis. Then after you have enjoyed the luxury of the buildings of Ermoupolis, it is time to accent towards High Siros.
It is the first settlement that was created on the island and was built in such a way so that the settlers could feel safe from the raids of pirates. It is full of whitewashed houses with microscopic doors and wooden balconies that altogether give you the impression of a beautiful painted picture. A stroll in its small alleys is certainly a unique experience.
It is essential that during your visit, you visit the museum of Marcos Vamvakaris, the Catholic diocese ,Center of Historical Studies and the magnificent Monastery of the Jesonates and Kaponates.

Syros is full of places that are suitable for excursions and swimming. If you are not the type of person who likes to be in the center of everything, then supply yourself with a map and choose idyllic places that can offer you just about everything.
Azolimnos, Vari, Poseidonia, Dellagratsia with its luxurious houses and its aristocratic appearance, are areas of exceptional beauty. The fish-town of Finikas and the region of Galissa with complete tourist resorts and a magical view, are but a few of the areas that you can visit and why not stay over for the night.

As far as the beaches are concerned, the island informs you that the only thing you will need to supply yourself with is a lot of desire. On the cosmopolitan seashore of Agathopon and of Galissa you will swim for hours and enjoy your favorite sports. The beaches of Komito, Kokkino and Armeo bay match completely the desires of whoever prefers something quieter in combination with all-blue seas. If on the other hand you like isolation, then there are two magical words, Marmari and Lakkos.
What ever you ask for you will find on the island of Siros. As far as the food and entertainment, both are secured, at whichever store you choose to visit. You should show preference to the homemade traditional pleasures with special emphasis on seafood, although and night you will dance and sway listening to all types of music at the bars and nightclubs that have the unique signature of Siros.
If you want something more genuine, all you have to do is to direct yourself in whichever direction there is an open-air festival taking place, where you can experience a taste of the local celebration. You will take part in traditional dancing and you will listen to melodies that excite the locals.
