Beginning your tour in the prefecture towards
Achaea, you’ll pass through the village Lechaio where you can visit
the ruins of Vasilikis near the beach, Vrahati in a wooded landscape
and you will continue with the neighbouring coastal village Neratza
and Kiato. A tourist resort where you’ll have the chance to visit
the ancient Sikiona.
There, after excavations were found the Parliament, the Makra Stoa
and Dionysus’ sublime statue (today it is found in Athens museum),
the Roman bath, the mosaics and the mosaics floors. Then you are
going to pass the picturesque village Melissi. You will visit Xylokastro
where you can see the church of Ayios Vlassios and Ayios Gerassimos
and you can go for swimming in the beach of the village and in Pefkias
with the wonderful wood.
You will go to Trikala, which is situated in a pine-clad area on
the slopes of the mountain Ziria, and it is separated in three built-up-areas:
The Ano, Kato and Messa Trikala. There, you will admire the Hermes’
cave with the astonishing stalactites and stalagmites and you will
continue with the village Derveni that is situated between Corinthia
and Achaea. Afterwards, while you are going to Athens you will meet
next to the Isthmus the village Isthmia which owes its name to the
ancient feast “Isthmia” and you will visit the sanctuary of Poseidon
which came to light in 1952.
Near there is the Great Altar, the Palemonion, the Stadium and the
Theatre. You will pass the canal in Isthmus and you are going to
enjoy your coffee to one of the many cafeterias that there are around
the village. You will pass also the village Almiri that is famous
for the baths of Orea Eleni that attract many summer visitors every
year. After, you can go to the near beaches as Lychnari, Megalo
Amoni, Mikro Amoni and Fragolimano. From this place you can go to
the opposite islet, Ovrios.
After Isthmus you will visit Loutraki where thousands of visitors
– Greeks and foreigns – come every year for their vacations. It
is also famous for its factories of bottling water and for its hot
springs. In Loutraki you are going to visit the ancient town with
the ruins and finds of the Prehistoric era, the monastery of Ossios
Patapios with the wonderful view and the Archaeological museum in
Perahora. Here, you will find the first Casino of Greece and the
most famous in all over Europe.
You are going to swim in Loutraki’s beach and in Vouliagmenis’ lake
in the cape of Ireon. Ending, you are going to pass through the
villages: Nemea that held this name many centuries. It was the place
for the feast of goddess Nemessis and it was also the place where
Hercules killed the Nemea’s lion.
