Agia Galini Rethymno |
Situated 55 kilometers far from Rethymnon, at the Southeast, Agia Galini is a big village with 1260 permanent residents, fully developed in a tourist resort and very popular to tourists. The village is built on the site of the ancient town Soulia, the port of the inland Syvritos, whose ruins have been found close to the mountainous village Thronos, some 37 kilometers at the North.
It is worth seeing the Platys Potamos ("large river"), passing through the valley of Agia Galini. Don't miss to take a drive to the inland village of Melambes, a scenic village ampritheatrically arranged with a beautiful view of Psiloritis, 9 kilometers far from Agia Galini at the Northwest; a few kilometers more at the North there is the village Orne, at the foot of the mountain Kedros. |
