| Archaeological Museum of Syros
The Museum of Syros is one from the older archaeological museums of Greece. It was founded in 1834-35 and is accommodated today in the Municipal Palace of Ermoupolis, important monument, that was drawn by known architect E. Tsiller.
The Museum of Syros, was initially founded as central protectoral the Cyclades, because Syros is the capital of prefecture. Later with the foundation of local Museums and in the other islands it was limited, from the dues of passed century, in the discoveries by Syros. They remained however in the Museum of Syros all discoveries had been imported in his collection from old, as lively from the Amorgos and the Kythnos, as well as small pieces from various other places (Aegina, Viotia etc).
The more important however total of Museum constitutes the collection of discoveries from the settlement in the Halandriani, that is found in steep elevation in the means of Eastern coast of Syros, where were revealed important departments of fortification (in the place Kastri), ruins of residences, laboratories metal art and ceramics. This settlement is considered from more important the said Prekykladjkou of culture and is dated in the second half of the 3rd millennium (2400/2300-2100p.h.). Most of this discoveries, work ceramics and metals, emanate from the excavations of Archaeological Etaireis in the Halandriani, at which were revealed 600 roughly graves. In the Museum of Syros is exposed a small part, while most have been transported in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
Afterwards the end of prehistoric season and until 8th century. they have found discoveries in the island that belongs in the mykinaika and geometrical years, which however they do not help we have a total picture for the life in Syros at this years.
At the classic years (5th - 4th p.h.) Syros remained in the shade of neighbouring Delos, had however independent regime.
In the Museum of Syros are presented also certain accidental discoveries from the island, few sculptures and signs. Most of this exhibits are dated in the Hellenistic season. Big interest presents even Egyptian status from black granite that given to the Museum. It depicts the priest Anchapi and is dated according to his sign 730 eg (22nd Dynasty).
The Industrial Museum of Hermoupolis
Near the new classic palaces of Ermoupolis, meets no one industry, the cranes and the tractors of Neorion. In this historical web are found also the three buildings that the Municipality of Ermoupolis has granted in a very interesting museum: the Industrial Museum of Ermoupolis.
A Museum is given birth
Above four hundred infrequent evidences from the industrial heritage of Ermoupolis, it was the first flavour from the Museum, in a report in May 2000.
Maps and pictures from the end 17th until the means of 20th century, prototypes architectural and urban drawings from the creation of neo classic Ermoupolis, tables of painters from Syros of 19th century and effigies of boats, were certain only from the first exhibits.
Today, the central trunk of report, they constitute roughly twenty maintained machines of collection of Museum, that are accompanied by tens objects, tools, raw material and products of industry.
Living up the past
At the same time, in the screens of report the visitor has the possibility admires pictures of her harbour season of steam and sails, of watching scenes of industrial work and of seeing a virtual collection of scientific bodies of 19th century.
Separate interest has the digital file of picture and sound, with recordings of oral testimonies of old workers and craftsmen, as also and the 3d digital representation public and industrial buildings.
In the department of Report that concerns the history of trade, is exposed also a entire shop of his feminine innovations of beginning of 20th century!

Centre of Technical Culture
All this activity, constitutes one from the first work of "Centre of Technical Culture" (Ce.Te.Cu) the Ermoupolis.
The Centre of Technical Culture - fruit of long-lasting collaboration of Municipality of Ermoupolis with the Institute of Modern Greek Researches (National Institution of Researches) - combines the idea of Museum with the study and the research "on the documentation of technical culture and the newer and modern history of Aegean".
In his planning, the Ce.Te.Cu. has included unit of laboratories that will connect the action of centre with the current productive activities of island, as also and unit of reception inquiring and educational activities.
Be marked that the systematic work of re-establishment and maintenance of exhibits of Industrial Museum, that it began in 1998, it becomes from entire in the Ermoupoli.
