ROUTES
Kamares - Apollonia - Kato Petali - Pano Petali - Exampela -
Artemonas - Kastro - Hersonissos
The port in kamares is the unique approach to the island .The houses
here ,are all white.The beach has a thin sand and it is offered for
swimming because here,the sea is calm.
Here they are situated the touristic office
hotel complex e.t.c.
Here one can find taverns ands everything else for vacations.To
the left it is situated Agia Marina to the night Agia Anna and
to the top Agios Simeon and Prophete Elias.
Apollonia is the capital of island and it owes its name to the
god Apollo.Apollonia is the commercial and managerial center
of the island and it has the largest population .Have there
are hotels,rooms-to-let police and many travel agencies.It is
worth visiting some of the temples as Timios Stavros ,Taxiarhis,Metamorfossis,and
Virgin Ouranoforas.
To the central square is situated the Folklore museum.

Kato Petali,Katevati,Exampela.
From Apollonia following a path we arrive at Kato Petali.Here it is
situated the church of Zoodohos Pigi.Going up we reach the Katevati
in a short distance from the capital.The great philosopher Apostolos
Makrakis came from Katevati.Charachteristic churches are Panayia Ageloktisti
,the temple of Christ Profetes Elias Ypsilos.A great fast takes place
in the 20 of July .eve of the Profetes Elias feast.

Pano Petali -Artemonas
Artemonas is the second big village of Sifnos.Artemonas owes its name
to the worship of the goddess Artemis Ekvatirias.Here they are situated
Panayia tis Ammou the church of Panayias tis Konhis and the temple
of Ayia Aikaterini.
The most beautiful point of Sifnos is the castle which is built on
a sharp rock it's got an excellent panoramic view to the open sea.Herodotus
calls it " asty" (=town).The Castles houses are narrow single
houses and mansions .They are two-storeyed or three-storeyed and deminates
the systems of the horizontal property .According to it ,each floor
belongs to a different owner.

Inside the Castle it's done a very good utilization of
the area .Here it is situated the Archaeological museum of the Castle.Concerning
the churches ,we will find here Panayia Eleoussa ,Agios Nikolaos,Agia
Aikaterini,Agios Demetrios and others.

Monastery of Panayias "to vouno"
(=the mountain) - Monastery Chrissopigis - Platys Gialos - Faros
- Vathi - Acropolis - Agios Andreas.
This route it is advisable for the sea adorers as anyone can
visit the wonderful beaches of platy Gialos ,Vathi and Faros.
PANAYIA MONASTERY: " To Vouno" is built on
a low hill with panoramic view.Here you'll have the opportunity
to calm down and admire the three aisles of the temple.
The middle aisle is dedicated to Agios Konstantinos and Agia
Eleni and the right to Agios Nikolaos.

CHRISSOPIGIS MONASTERY
It dominates proudly on the cloven rock and it takes your breath
away .The holy rock with the all white building ,the little vegetation
all around ,the immensity of Aegean and the tranquil magnificence
that emits the area compose a unique environment a real pleasure for
who meet it.
PLATYS GIALOS
The most noisy and cosmopolitan beach of the island is Platys
Gialos.The huge golden sandy beach with the crystal clear waters offers
unique pleasures .It is the cosmopolitan resort of Sifnos and it offers
hospitality to many famous visitors every year disposing all the comforts
for pleasant vacations.The visitor can swim or do water sports and
entertain himself taking unique moments.

FAROS
A lovely coastal built-up-area with a small sandy beach and
tranquil waters in general .Next to faros there are the small
bys Fasolous and Glyfon for a calm swimming and peacefulness
for all those that desire it.
VATHI
One more pictusque bay is the beach of Vathi.It is about a small
leeward port with a sandy beach and deep blue waters.The small
bay with the crystal -clear sea fascinates you. |

ACROPOLIS AYIOS ANDREAS
Next to the Acropolis it rises up the imposing church of Agios
Andreas .The big paved yard all around offers to the visitors great
moments of peacefulness and concentration as he can stare from there
the entire embossed magnificence of the landscape.
