The Skotina is a village in Pieria, with 957 inhabitants (2001 census), which belongs to the City of East Olympus is seat of Municipal District in three villages and 1024 people.
The historical path followed by Skotiniotes states the first village had been in the area of Kalambaka, where there are still rubble left, then they built the new village in the woods today known as Skotinas Verdikousa which remained to remind us of the existence of the ruins of the second village and the forest is still called the Forest Skotinas. When they had to leave this village too, they built the new village in the Upper Skotina taht we know today.
