HISTORY
|
The
first history report comes from Homer in the Iliad where he
says that Kyparissia, a city that was ruled by King Nestor,
took part in the Trojan War providing manned triremes.

|
In the middle-years its name was Arcadia, probably by the too
many Arcades who came running from the Slavous. After the abolition
of Byzantium, it was enslaved by the Francs and later by the Turkeys. |
Its castle, which is like a crown on its head, indicates an ancient
history and challenges you to visit it so that your eyes can travel
to Sforades and Zakynthos.
The visitors mustn't miss the opportunity to visit the scenic villages,
the ruins of the temple of Apollo and the walls of the city near
the train Station. A must are also the Source of Dionysus and the
vaulted tombs of Peristeria and Mouriatada.
