MORE INFO

We would say better, only in books and in the ancient quarries where the famous marble of Paros was being produced. Along the street, there are many scattered pieces of marble which stand proudly in the centuries and make you imagine all the masterpieces in whose construction they had taken part.

With a church like Katapoliani - one of the three most important in size and perfection paleocristian monuments of Greece (the other two are Agios Dimitrios and Achiropiitos of Thessalonica) - and a monastery like Logovarda, the island is proud of its tradition. It invites each one of you to visit its white churches with their imposing hagiographies and see some of the best icons.

As for the beaches, Paros can satisfy all the tastes. From the famous Chrysi-Akti with the sandy beach like powder and the fabulous Logaras with its quiet beach, up to Pisso Livadi with its small port and its fish taverns with spicy smells.

Some of the most impressive beaches are located between t Kolymbithres and Santa Maria while relaxation and calmness is offered in the beach of Glyfa with its aquamarine waters.

Still, the catalogue of the immense blue that winks at you, does not stop here. Certainly, it includes the beach of Pounta, which is the favorite of young people, and the exotic beach of Agia Irini. If you don't want the blue and the white to monopolize your photographs and you prefer a variety of colour combinations, then Paros is not going to disappoint you.

Specifically, the area of Petaloudes ( = butterflies. It took its name from the innumerable butterflies of only one kind: brown and yellow. When they fly the sight is fantastic and although it does not last long it is unforgettable. The idyllic scene of coloured feathered, completes the bio-place that functions as a refuge with its high plane trees, the green-clad ivies and the coolness of the running waters.

The afternoon finds Chora full of promises for tasty pleasures in romantic narrow alleys and for unforgettable night entertainment in the full of life bars. If you are lucky and visit the island in a period of traditional festivals, then you can admire the inhabitants of Paros with their dances, as the celebrated Balos and Syrtos.

If now you haven't had enough of Paros and you want a bit more to remember it by, then there is a small island named Antiparos. It is a piece of land that was seceded from Paros because of geologic reclassifications.

The access to the island is very easy and you can depart from Parikia or Pounta. The island may be small in extent but this doesn't reduce its beauty at all.

The picturesque paved streets, the fish taverns and the coffee shops, decorate the port and the single settlement of the island.

You may choose among Psaralikes and Sifneikos beach or you can swim in Theologos and Agios Georgios waiting the lunch time in one of the traditional small taverns with the unique local delicacies.

Wherever you go and before leaving the island, don't forget to take with you, some of Paros' wine that will remind you the earthly Greek paradise where you enjoyed your vacations.
