By bus: Frequent buses depart from Athens (the agency of KTEL) to Kefallonia, via Patra and the duration of the journey is 9 hours.

By boat: 

From Patra to Sami the duration of the journey is 3 hours and 30 minutes.
From Killini to Poros the duration of the journey is 1 hour and 15 minutes .
From Killini to Lixouri and Argostoli the duration of this journey is 3 hours.
From Astako Aitoloakarnanias to Agia Efimia the duration of the journey is 2 hours and 15 minutes. 
There are also local routes with small ferry-boats, from Fiskardo to Basiliki of Lefkada. In Frikes and in Stavro Ithakis, there are flying dolphins in the coastal line Patra - Argostoli and Zakyntho - Poro - Lefkada. 

From Kefallonia you can reach by boat Ithaca, Paxous and one day cruisers to Argostoli, Lixouri, Sami, Fiskardo, Poro and Bathi Ithaki.

By plane: Olympic Airways flies from Athens to Kefallonia every day, all time of the year. The duration of the flight is about 45 minutes.
