Lassithi Museums: Information about the museums of Lassithi

 
The Archaeological Museum of Agios Nikolaos :

The museum is located on Paleologou Street in Agios Nikolaos and was founded in 1970, aiming to exhibit the many archaeological finds that have been excavated from the eastern Crete, finds which were then housed in the Museum of Heraklion. Nowadays this interesting museum houses a rich collection of various items found in the surrounding and area from the Minoan to the Roman Period.

 

LASSITHI MUSEUMS

The Archaeological Collection of Neapolis:

The collection is housed in a building given by the Ministry of Health and the Municipality of Neapolis to the Ministry of Culture. It was founded before World War II and exhibits about 1000 items that have been discovered in the area of Mirambelo and in other archaeological sites of the prefecture of Lassithi. The town of Neapolis is located 15 kilometres north-west of Agios Nikolaos.
The Archaeological Museum of Ierapetra:

This museum is housed in the Commercial Ottoman School building, offered by the Municipality of Ierapetra to the Ministry of Culture. It was founded at the end of the 19th century and exhibits various items dating from the Minoan, the Geometric, the Archaic, the Classical (and Hellenistic) and the Roman periods.
